The Stoneboat Syrah 2022 is a fairly quiet wine at first.

The nose is modest, with some forest fruit and dark berries, but it becomes more expressive once you start drinking it.

On the palate, I get dark berries and forest berries, with good acidity keeping the wine fresh and balanced.

It has a pleasant, warming character towards the finish, with a touch of sweetness and vanilla.

It is not a particularly complex Syrah, but it is well balanced and easy to enjoy.

There is enough fruit and freshness to keep it interesting without making it heavy.

For me, this is a wine that works better with food than as a serious tasting wine.

I would happily serve it with grilled meat, burgers, sausages or a simple mushroom dish.
