About Phantom Creek Estates

Phantom Creek Estates is a modern winery in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley built on historic vineyard sites that date back to the Becker Project of 1977, when German researcher Helmut Becker proved that European grape varieties could thrive in the region. The vineyards were later developed by Okanagan wine pioneer Harry McWatters and viticulture expert Richard Cleave, establishing them as some of the most respected vineyard sites in Canada. The estate was purchased in 2016 by businessman Richter Bai, whose vision was to create a world-class winery inspired by the great estates of Bordeaux and Napa Valley. Phantom Creek Estates officially opened in 2020 and today combines organic and biodynamic vineyard practices with advanced gravity-flow winemaking. Led by director of winemaking Mark Beringer, with consulting winemaker Olivier Humbrecht, the estate focuses on producing elegant, minimal-intervention wines that express the character of the Okanagan Valley.
